Turbo, 911, or Water-cooled?

This year will see Intermeccanica build on the development work that has taken place in 2008. A significant number of water-cooled Intermeccanicas, including another 1.8L turbo and a water-cooled Kubelwagen are now either in process or ready for construction to begin. We feel strongly that the water-cooled Intermeccanicas will grow to be the predominant products we will manufacture in the coming years. Similarly the six cylinder 911 powered Roadsters and Speedsters continue to be very popular with customers looking for top levels of air-cooled performance. A record number of 911 powered Intermeccanicas were delivered in 2008 and the first 2009 ‘Speedster 6’ is currently in the final assembly stage. We are proud to offer a wide range of power plant options for our products. This allows customers to choose from traditional air-cooled four cylinder carbureted engines to four cylinder water-cooled and fuel injected engines incorporating OEM and “tuned” turbos, to our Ultra HP six cylinder Porsche engines with either carburetion or fuel injection. This range of choice provides you with the opportunity to have your new Intermeccanica custom built to more closely match your needs and desires.

We’re moving…some day

As some of you know our current shop facility in Vancouver has been sold by the original owners and is now in the hands of a residential property developer. Our lot, in conjunction with most of the city block we are on, is slated for 15 story condominium development. The recent slow down in the economy has slowed the pace of development and I am hopeful that we will be able to stay at our current location through the end of 2009. In any case for those of you joining us for our 6th annual BBQ, it will again be held at our current shop this July 19th.

Car Shows and Exhibitions
2009 will see Intermeccanica returning as an exhibitor at the Edmonton Motor Show in February and the Calgary International Auto Show in March. Plans are in the works to return to the Vancouver International Auto Show in April. We are confirmed to make a return to the great Speedster gathering at Carlisle, Pennsylvania in May, always a highlight of my show travels. We hope that any of you who are able will come out to these events - Intermeccanica appreciates your support.

Pre-Owned Intermeccanicas

2008 has seen a record number of pre-owned Intermeccanicas find new caretakers through the listings on our website. There are always interesting listings available and great deals to be had. If you are looking for an Intermeccanica you might consider a pre-owned as a “first-step”. Most listings are fully factory inspected and serviced and all are top quality Intermeccanicas. If you own an Intermeccanica and are interested in finding a buyer, please contact us.

New Book - The History of Intermeccanica
Intermeccanica is proud to announce that in 2009 the history of Intermeccanica and its founder Frank Reisner will be published by U.K. auto printing label Veloce Publishing Ltd. This book is the culmination of 3+ years of work by Paula Reisner in conjunction with Vancouver area auto journalist and writer Andrew McCredie and captures the enduring spirit and drive that Frank Reisner exhibited in pursuit of the establishment and growth of Intermeccanica. Signed copies of the book will be available later this year through Intermeccanica. Please contact us if you are interested in adding your name to the list.
